Our names are Anette & Bjarne Högman and we live with our daughter Jasmine and son Gabriel in Stockholm, the capital in Sweden, in a suburb called Älvsjö. We have a small cattery named S* Saphire Extreme which was registered in Fife & SVERAK (the Swedish cat organization) 1997 and we are members of the Swedish catclub Järva. Our first litter was born in 1998 and since that time we had several further litters, with the hope that more will follow in the near future.
Our household consists of myself, Anette, my husband Bjarne, our daughter Jasmine and our four lovely Birman cats. I work at ISS Sverige while Bjarne work at an advertising firm. We are both involved in running the cattery and we think that it is great fun to share a common interest such as this.
At present our cattery is quite small as we only have six Birmans at home. Two female kittens, two neutered females and two neutered males. All our cats live with us in the way any other family member would as neither of us belive in the use of cages or closed doors. Our cats are our pride and joy and provide wonderful companionship for us.
Our interest in birmans began in 1995 when we bought our bluepointed male S* Trampedals Mr Brembo. Initially he was bought as a family pet only as neither of us had an interest in either cat breeding or cat shows. However, his breeder (Lotta Westman, Trampedals
cattery) thought that he should enter one show and since that time he has become an European Champion and an European Premior. During this time our interest for breeding began and in 1997 we bought our first female S* Golden Sinh Daytona and registered our catteys name S* Saphire Extreme. Things don´t always turn out the way you think they will sometimes;-)
In the the year 2000 we bought our
sealpointed female IDP* Älvens Glorious Gift who is the daughter of Mr Brembo (and who shares many of his best qualities). Unfortunatly we had to re-home Daytona in the year 2001 but we were lucky enough to be able to keep a wonderful sealtabbypointed girl, S* Saphire Extreme Eternal Summer, from her fourth litter the same year. We have also bought a lovely bluepointed male from France, Odin Viking De Wikinggard *F,
who was our stud a couple of years until he was neutered and rehomed. Then we bought a new wonderful chocolatepointed boy, Shakandah Aussie Extreme (Ozzie), from Australia as our new stud.
He moved to us in spring 2003 and gave us some lovely kittens before he was neutered. Now in the year 2005 we have kept two females from our own breeding, sealtabbypointed S* Saphire Extreme One More Time and chocolatepointed S* Saphire Extreme Envy Me. The girls mothers are our two wonderful females living in foster homes, bluetabbypointed S* Saphire Extreme She´s the One and sealpointed S* Saphire Extreme Like Paradise. We hope that we will get some lovely birman kittens after our new girls in the future.
Our aim is to breed strong and healthy Birmans of excellent
type with pale coats, good eye colour and wonderful temperaments. We also try to breed birmans with as good pedigrees as possible and avoid inbreeding.
